Kachamaru never really fully embraced Ainu culture. There was always a part of him that longed for reconciliation with his family - a family that he still holds in high regard. Tradition means a lot to him, and he hoped to instil this on his two daughters.

Mori was his first daughter. According to Onuma, his second, she got all the benefits. Onuma is an also-ran, as far as she sees it. But there is a flip-side: whereas Mori is the eldest and due all the benefits of being such, she has been prepared for marriage from an early age. Her studies tended toward wifely duties and domestic work.

This has enabled Onuma to study that which interests her. Although they were reluctant, her parents have been good teachers. Secretly, Kachamaru is pleased that one of his daughters is following in his footsteps. Onuma loves the rough and tumble of hunting, fishing and adventure. In fact she was quite at home with the boys on their exploits years ago. Sometimes she used to disguise herself as a young man in order to join their hunting parties!

Kachemaru has handed down his family swords to Mori as befits the first-born. However, the mis-matched daisho that he gave to Onuma are actually better quality blades. Onuma thinks of this as ironic as well as a great honour. Kachemaru is also giving her his pearl of magic, as she has studied in the magical arts a lot further than her sister.

She has managed to gather some tools of the Kabuki trade, makeup, clothes and disguises. She also has gathered herbs and spices, in order to continue her studies into the herbalist's trade. Her father has reminded her that he mastered no skills, but studied many. Onuma has taken this to heart, though whether she follows the tradition is yet to be seen.

Sometimes shy and sometimes outgoing, Onuma is a young lady of many faces and personalities. She is thrilled to be going on an adventure properly. Her anxious parents have given her roots as well as wings.
